Once Leo began crawling we knew we needed a solution for baby proofing that would contain him while he explored the world around him. We also didn’t want it to be an eyesore. When you have worked hard on the design of your home, you don’t suddenly want it taken over with bright colors.
We love that this playpen is neutral with the grey and off white color. [Note: they do have a multi-color available if that is your thing.] The ability to purchase extra walls (set of 4 sold separately) is a bonus so if we ever need to expand it in the future we could. [Note: we did this, and it made such a difference.] The playpen easily fits his playmat and has extra space for wiggling around. We ended up buying a foldable, very padded playmat that works really well with this (see my review: Alzip Silion eco color mat). Also, it is easy to remove walls to create the shape and size playpen needed. We love how sturdy the baby walls are, he cannot push it over. Yet it is lightweight enough to easily be folded up and moved out of the way when he is no longer playing. You could easily travel with this gate for a roadtrip to a friends house by folding it up and sticking it in the car. This allows you to create multiple shapes whereas the competitors only had square or rectangular shapes - we have had it in a circle, oval, square, rectangle, etc We have expanded it, we have folded up some of the walls and we have removed walls. There are no spaces for his fingers to get stuck. It doesn’t seem like there are any spaces for him to stick his toes and try to climb on. We love that you can adjust the locks to change the shape and secure the playpen walls. It has a gate but honestly you can step in/out but it is a taller gate at 24.4 inches. It is also nice that it is for indoor/outdoor - it would be easy to clean it and use it multiple places!
They have a 2 year warranty and responsive customer service which gave us peace of mind when spending so much on a gate.

The only thing that could be improved would be if they could add a wall piece that had a baby safe mirror. I solved this by buying the largest baby safe mirror I could find (see my review here: Manhattan Toys Wimmer-Ferguson Double-Feature Mirror) and rigging it to the door. Leo loves to see himself and can be easily amused by staring at the baby in the mirror. So if you’re reading this Fortella, please add an additional optional set of walls that have full length baby safe mirrors.
This has already proven to be one of our best baby investments. We likely will have a second one in the future so that we can have one upstairs and one downstairs once we move.
